 Main Job Purpose:

Responsible for ensuring Procurement best practice with an aim of leveraging best value for money from BPL's goods and services expenditure.

Accountable in ensuring value for money, compliance to BPL procurement processes and providing buyer support to the BPL organisation. This will also involve analysing requirements and pricing to drive best value to the business.

Key duties and responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for leveraging best value for money from BPL's expenditure through competitive tendering, negotiation and preferential contract terms.
  • Run competitive processes (typically 3 quotes / accelerated RFP processes) to select fit-for-purpose suppliers for BPL across a range of goods and services.
  • Bring commercial rigour and acumen to supplier selection processes
  • Guide the business in any ongoing sourcing activities within their departments
  • Manage business stakeholders effectively across different functions; Provide a good personal service to colleagues;
  • Communicate clearly and effectively at all levels of seniority, both verbally and in writing.
  • Create well-structured documents and presentations.
  • Build and maintain strong, positive and trusting relationships with all key stakeholders.
  • Performance management of suppliers, through regular supplier meetings and monitoring of KPIs to improve the quality and robustness of their service provision.
  • Effectively conduct contractual negotiations with suppliers as and when required outside of sourcing processes
  • Support Category Managers with supplier relationship management programmes and competitive tendering processes
  • Assess and make recommendations to continuously improve existing procurement processes
  • Support Head of Procurement in compliance management of Procurement processes across BPL
  • Provide analytical support as and when required to the other ongoing Procurement initiatives
  • In tracking progress of supplier relationships, manage the basic processes of in-contract performance measurement and management.
  • Support in transactional purchasing including expediting and raising requisitions as and when required. 

Knowledge & Experience: 

  • Proven procurement professional
  • 3 years' experience in a procurement role
  • to solve ill-defined and complex sourcing challenges
  • Manipulation of data to improve business process and delivery of role 

Training & Education: 

  • Full or Part CIPS qualified
  • Project management experience 

Other Requirements: 

  • Self-starter, resilient and tenacious under pressure
